President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said the 2017 Appropriation Bill that he would present to the joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday would take Nigeria out of recession. Buhari said this in his Eid-el Maulud message to Nigerians. In the message which he personally signed, the President said with collective dedication and hard work, Nigerians would in 2017 overcome the economic difficulties, and return the country to the path of prosperity. He urged Nigerians not to allow the reality of the temporary challenges to undermine their hope or reverse the collective will to succeed. Rather, he said the challenges should remind them why they needed to remain united. Female corps member, Ifedolapo Oladepo, who died in NYSC camp, Kano was buried today in Osogbo at her family’s residence. The first class graduate of Transport management from the Ladoke Akintola university of Technology, Ogbomoso reportedly died at the orientation camp on Tuesday ,after she was forced to undertake tasks at the camp ,despite being ill.The camp officials were said to have thought she was pretending.

Ericsson Nigeria, the local subsidiary of the global telecommunications solutions provider, has disengaged about 160 permanent and outsourced workers in its Network Operating Centre, investigations have shown. It was gathered that disengagement, which takes effect on Sunday, December 4, 2016, affected 55 full-time employees of the company. According to sources in the company, some workers were laid off in July when the offshoring (the practice of a company in one country arranging for people in another country to do work for it) of jobs to India began. Findings show that foreign workers had been recruited to replace the disengaged workers, and knowledge transfer by Nigerian engineers to the new workers was ongoing in the company’s office in India. Sources revealed that the knowledge transfer had been going on since last year when some Indians were brought into the country to study the management of telecommunications infrastructure in the country.. Nobel prize-winning author Wole Soyinka has finally destroyed his US residency green card. He made the revelation on Thursday after he had pledged to destroy the card if Donald Trump wins the presidential election. According to an AFP report, Soyinka said he destroyed his green card during a conference at the University of Johannesburg. “I have already done it, I have disengaged (from the United States). A former Governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, on Wednesday said that he joined the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) so that they (Nigerians) will know that APC was not ‘an ethnic or religious party’. He made this disclosure on Wednesday at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja. “If they see us in this place, they will know that APC is not an ethnic or religious party. It is something that we need to be explaining to the Catholic bishops, Anglican bishops, the Pentecostal churches and the rest of them. “Between Sunday when I registered at Igbere and now, there are 4,000 new members already registered with the APC in Abia without making it open. The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three internet fraudsters, who until their arrest, were into cyber crime, popularly known as “yahoo plus”. This was made known by the Police Public Relations (PPRO), SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan. Residents petition for Donald Trump’s name – Residents of the Trump Place apartment complex on Manhattan’s Upper West Side started an online petition to have the landlord of the complexes, Equity Residential, change the name of the properties. The petition garnered almost 600 signatures and their petition was granted. According to CNBC, residents of the three apartment complexes received a notice Tuesday from the general manager to inform them that the signs will be removed. A spokesperson told CNBC: “We are currently in the process of changing the name of the buildings at 140, 160 and 180 Riverside to their street addresses.” “We are assuming a more neutral building identity that will appeal to all current and future residents.” The Trump Place signs were later seen being removed. Pop singer, Dbanj might not be as good a businessman as he is a singer after getting sued for more that N100 million unpaid debt. The singer is being sued by technology company, MindHub, for having an outstanding debt of over N100 million naira. According to a document released to a popular online media today, November 16, 2016, it appears that Dbanj signed an MoU with the technology company on October 19, 2012, for the promotion of a concert organised by his media house, D’Kings Men Media LTD. MindHub reportedly invested the sum of the sum of $500,000 and N20 Million for the organisation of the concerts. The signed contract states that Dbanj would be personally liable for the payment of the sums of money in the event of D’Kings Media failure to pay. Two white South African men are facing assault charges after appearing in a footage of them forcing a black man into a coffin and threatening to set him on fire. The video, which circulated on social media, shows a man identified as Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa, cowering and moaning in a coffin as one of his tormentors pushes part of the lid on to his head and upper body. A man is also heard threatening to pour gasoline in the coffin. And another threat is to put a snake in the coffin. The assaulted man said the two men accused him of trespassing on their farm after he used a footpath in the area. According to the News24, Mlotshwa said, “The next thing, there was a grave and then a coffin. Many cultists in Rivers State have surrendered their arms to the government as the governor conducts amnesty programs. The government of Rivers State on Tuesday concluded the first phase of the State Amnesty Programe, with Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike disbanding all vigilante committees in all communities of the state. The governor also directed security agencies to henceforth go after all cultists and kidnappers who refused to voluntarily accept the amnesty offer of the state government, pointing out that his administration has zero tolerance to crime and criminality. The governor spoke at the Government House, Port Harcourt during the submission of the report of the Rivers State Amnesty Programme.
