A former Governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, on Wednesday said that he joined the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) so that they (Nigerians) will know that APC was not ‘an ethnic or religious party’. He made this disclosure on Wednesday at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja. “If they see us in this place, they will know that APC is not an ethnic or religious party. The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three internet fraudsters, who until their arrest, were into cyber crime, popularly known as “yahoo plus”. This was made known by the Police Public Relations (PPRO), SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan. Residents petition for Donald Trump’s name – Residents of the Trump Place apartment complex on Manhattan’s Upper West Side started an online petition to have the landlord of the complexes, Equity Residential, change the name of the properties. The petition garnered almost 600 signatures and their petition was granted. According to CNBC, residents of the three apartment complexes received a notice Tuesday from the general manager to inform them that the signs will be removed. A spokesperson told CNBC: “We are currently in the process of changing the name of the buildings at 140, 160 and 180 Riverside to their street addresses.” “We are assuming a more neutral building identity that will appeal to all current and future residents.” The Trump Place signs were later seen being removed. Pop singer, Dbanj might not be as good a businessman as he is a singer after getting sued for more that N100 million unpaid debt. The singer is being sued by technology company, MindHub, for having an outstanding debt of over N100 million naira. According to a document released to a popular online media today, November 16, 2016, it appears that Dbanj signed an MoU with the technology company on October 19, 2012, for the promotion of a concert organised by his media house, D’Kings Men Media LTD. MindHub reportedly invested the sum of the sum of $500,000 and N20 Million for the organisation of the concerts. The signed contract states that Dbanj would be personally liable for the payment of the sums of money in the event of D’Kings Media failure to pay. Two white South African men are facing assault charges after appearing in a footage of them forcing a black man into a coffin and threatening to set him on fire. The video, which circulated on social media, shows a man identified as Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa, cowering and moaning in a coffin as one of his tormentors pushes part of the lid on to his head and upper body. A man is also heard threatening to pour gasoline in the coffin. And another threat is to put a snake in the coffin. The assaulted man said the two men accused him of trespassing on their farm after he used a footpath in the area. The government of Rivers State on Tuesday concluded the first phase of the State Amnesty Programe, with Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike disbanding all vigilante committees in all communities of the state. The governor also directed security agencies to henceforth go after all cultists and kidnappers who refused to voluntarily accept the amnesty offer of the state government, pointing out that his administration has zero tolerance to crime and criminality. Nigerian singer, D’banj‘s well hyped United Kingdom tour, which was scheduled to hold between November 11 to 13 failed to hold despite the artiste flying to the UK with fanfare for same purpose. The situation left thousands of fans who were looking forward to the shows disappointed especially when they were aware that Dbanj was in town after his grand entry into UK. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has finally started rolling out the much-awaited video-calling feature across platforms — Android, iOS and Windows. The feature is hitting all the three major mobile operating systems starting today. However, since the roll out is being done in a phased manner, it may take sometime to reach users globally. To make a video call, users simply need to click on the calling button at the top right corner inside the chat window and choose between ‘Voice’ and ‘Video’ calling options. EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, gave this indication in an interview with Daily Post on the sidelines of a training programme in Port Harcourt. Uwujaren, however, said the House of Representatives cannot direct the EFCC to investigate what he described as faceless wonder bank like MMM. Three men, including an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, were nabbed by the Police for attempting to kidnap businessman Femi Otedola. This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr. Don N. Awunah, Force Public Relations Officer. The kidnap was foiled by the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team. The arrest, Police said, was achieved through coordinated intelligence gathering and deployment of technical investigative tools that spanned several weeks.
